Memorial Day Weekend 2011

We just got back from Ocean City and had such a fun time!  The weather was picture perfect - no humidity, mid 70s with a light breeze.  PERFECT!  The kids had a blast getting dirty and wet and taking more baths in 3 days than they even have before.  We did come back a day early because Mike and I are exhausted.  This definitely was not a relaxing weekend for us.  With the Fearless Gracie Girl walking and Matty testing limits big time, we pretty much just ran after them all weekend.  They are so much fun though!!

We found the perfect solution to Gracie rubbing food in her hair - a shower cap!  Unfortunately, it only lasted for about 30 seconds.

We went to our favorite place ever for lunch, Dogfish Head.  This picture has me wondering what they put in Gracie's sippy cup!

The kids were exhausted at Dogfish - almost falling asleep on the table.  We are such great parents :)

Just an example on how these two can destroy a room in seconds flat.

We ended up buying awesome little pools for the balcony!

They were tiny!

The kids loved them!

Picture Perfect

This picture makes me laugh because it is so typical Gracie.  That is her expression when she is running from Matty because she has just swiped one of his toys :)

Each time we went to the beach, Gracie RAN into the water.  She would just get up and go all by herself.  Of course we were right behind her, but it was so funny to see how much she loved the ocean water.

Daddy had to keep pulling her out of the water.  It was COLD!

Such a sweet picture!

Keeping Cool with Snow Cones

After days of missing the sun, we were finally treated to a warm and sunny day today!  When we walked out the front door, Matty said, "Boy, Mommy!  What a beautiful day.  The sun is shining!"  And he was right  - it was pretty much a perfect day, and we made the most of it!

Matty and Grandma's long search for an electric snow cone machine ended earlier this week on a trip to Target.  Ever since then, Matty has been dreaming of snow cones!  We gave the machine a whirl today and made some very tasty treats!

Gracie Girl is getting faster every day!

I drew the line at two snow cones today, so then Matty just ate plain shaved ice.  He had a bowl of ice sitting on the table and would take breaks from playing to go cool down with his ice.

Always with little balls in her hands!

Matty loves taking care of plants!

A Mommy Milestone

Considering that Matty is 3 years old and Gracie is 14 months, you may be surprised to learn that we have never, ever left them with anyone other than their grandparents.  Well, today that all changed!  I had a HUGE mommy milestone!!

I went to the YMCA, dropped them off in the "Kids Zone", and RAN!  I bolted out of that room and didn't look back.  Of course, I brought Grandma along with me for moral support. I couldn't have done it without her! This was a tough, tough thing for me to do.  It kept me up most of the night before and gave me a nervous stomach just thinking about it.

About 3 minutes into my treadmill workout, I saw one of the ladies from the babysitting room walk into the Fitness Center looking around for someone who I just knew had to be me.  As she approached, I gave her a look and said,"me?"  She shook her head no, smiled, and kept on walking to find that unlucky mama whose kid was throwing a fit.  I was shocked that it was not me and thought, this is easy...why have I never done this before?  I sent Grandma to peek in after 15 minutes, and they were fine.

After 30 minutes of treadmill time, I decide I better go get them.   Just as I was walking down the hallway, the same lady who smiled at me earlier said, "I was just coming to get you.  Gracie is having a tough time."  When I walked into the room, Gracie was frozen in place, fists in the air, and screaming her pretty little head off.  I knew it.  Gracie was the one I was worried about.  She is such a mama's girl.

Matty was perfectly fine.  He was looking out the window at the trucks, playing a guitar, and he didn't want to leave.  He is such a big boy.

The nice lady in the babysitting room told me not to give up.  And I won't.

I haven't taken any pictures this week (shocker, I know).  So here's an oldie, but goodie.  Oh, how I love my little sweets.

Some Weekend Pictures

This weekend was as low-key and uneventful as they come - which is always a good thing around our house!  Here are some pictures of the kids that I snapped this weekend...

This was a big race weekend in Dover, so I took the kids down to Dover on Friday to check out the race cars!  Matty was in his glory and even got to sit in a real race car!  Gracie could have cared less!

Saturday morning soccer!  Gracie has lots of laughs hanging out on the sidelines with some of Matty's teammates' little sisters!

Matty had some playtime with just him and Daddy outside on Saturday afternoon.  I looked at the window to find this...
Hanging out in the "pirate ship" just talking

And no weekend is complete without digging in the dirt...
