First Steps!

Last night Matty took his first 4 – 5 wobbly steps without holding on to anything or anyone! He started walking then when he realized what he was doing, he got so excited that he start jumping and down he went! We tried to get him up to show off his new moves again, but all he wanted to do is jump. He is very proud of himself! It won’t be long before we have a walker… LOOK OUT!

March for Babies

Today we walked in our first March for Babies in Newark. There is not a day that goes by that we don't thank God for our beautiful, healthy, perfect little Matty. Today we walked for the babies who have to struggle through their first days, weeks, months of life.

We had a great time, but it was HOT. 90 degrees and the sun was blazin' which explains why we sorta cheated. We took a short-cut. Not because we didn't want to walk the 5 miles, but Matty's poor chalky white legs (gets that from dad) were basking in the sun. Even though he was slathered with sunscreen, we were nervous of him getting burned. Here are some highlights from the day...

Matty's First Trip to the Big Easy!

This was a weekend of more firsts for Matty - first ride on an airplane, first trip to New Orleans, first wedding, first beer - ha - just kidding :) We arrived home a few hours ago from a fun-filled wedding weekend in New Orleans. We had so much fun spending time with great friends and enjoying the Big Easy - it certainly is like no other place we've ever experienced! Matty had a blast! He cried maybe three times the whole weekend and just took in all the interesting scenery. After four days away from home, three plane rides and way too much spicy food and tasty drinks, we are all exhausted - but it was well worth it!

Hoppy Easter!

Matty celebrated his First Easter in style (see below). He started the day with a huge basket full of fun. After that we went to mass then headed to Nana and Grandpa's for more fun. He busted his first moves today with Quack the Dancing Duck. Then our little German boy had his first Sauerbraten meal and loved it! Happy Easter!!!

12 Month Appointment

Matty had his 12 month doctor visit yesterday. He is 22 pounds, 4 ounces and almost 30 inches long. So that's 40-45% in weight, 50% in length and 75% in head circumference. Matty is doing great with his growth and according to the doctor, "is perfect in every way" (like I didn't already know that)...

He got 3 shots - he didn't even cry for the first two. In fact, he was smiling at the nurse who called him a "tough little bird." But, the last evil MMR shot broke him down.

Today Matty finished up his formula and started on whole milk. Next big challenge - getting rid of his beloved bottles! Oh, and he is cutting three teeth on top all at the same time - poor guy!

Today was supposed to be a wash-out, but instead it turned out to be 70 degrees and sunny. I forgot how fun bubbles are until today!

Happy Birthday Matty!

Today is Matty's First Birthday!! I don't know where the year has gone, but it sure was fun! Today was a perfect sunny, breezy day to celebrate our perfect little one's First Birthday!
